Overview

As organizations of all sizes focus on core competencies and look to minimize fixed costs and migrate to a more flexible variable cost model, they are looking more and more towards outsourcing as a vehicle to accomplish this transition. The Strategic Outsourcing Lifecycle, Implementation and Management Skills Program is an intensive three-day in-depth analysis of strategic outsourcing strategies and applications including domestic, near-shore and offshore sourcing practices.

Strategic Outsourcing Lifecycle, Implementation and Management Skills Program focuses on the "nuts and bolts" of planning, implementing, and managing of global outsourcing initiatives. Participants will be exposed to best-of-breed outsourcing processes, procedures, methodologies and checklists that can be applied to their organization's outsourcing initiatives.

Agenda

Day 1: Strategic Outsourcing Foundations and Organizational Readiness to Outsourcing

The Strategic Outsourcing Foundations module focuses on increasing participant’s knowledge of outsourcing as a strategic management discipline in order to gain and sustain a competitive advantage in the global marketplace. Participants will learn global sourcing business trends, the strategic value of global outsourcing, offshore outsourcing, as well as outsourcing lifecycle methodologies. Additionally, participants will learn organizational enterprise frameworks that assess various organizational outsourcing strategies, implementation model alternatives and stakeholder requirements generation.

  • Risk identification and mitigation strategies.

Participants will learn to:

  • Describe global outsourcing industry trends and their recognized strategic value
  • Describe the value proposition of strategic outsourcing and how it meets today's business challenges
  • Describe the major phases of the outsourcing lifecycle
  • Identify the different types of services that can be globally sourced
  • Evaluate offshore sourcing advantages and disadvantages
  • Identify critical success factors for implementing strategic outsourcing
  • Analyze and evaluate the factors of globalization and the impact on strategic outsourcing on today’s business environment.
  • Describe integrated assessment processes that bring together the necessary stakeholders with the relevant data all within a structured framework
  • Baseline the operational environments, requirements, processes, and desired outcomes
  • Identify the cost and financial benefits of strategic outsourcing
  • Assess internal/external quality processes and requirements
  • Provide a management framework for risk identification and mitigation

Day 2: Vendor Selection and Contracting

The Vendor Assessment and Contracting module provides participants with structured guidelines to help in the critical outsourcing vendor acquisition process. Participants learn key vendor lifecycle elements including: vendor evaluation criteria development, RFI/RFP creation and evaluation, contract creation, negotiation and selection.

  • Sourcing team roles and responsibilities
  • Vendor negotiation strategies
  • Contract terms and conditions

Participants will learn to:

  • Define an organization’s scope and requirements for strategic outsourcing
  • Define an outsourcing initiative’s team criteria and requirements
  • Define the vendor identification process and evaluation criteria
  • Outline process for the development of a RFP/RFI framework
  • Describe vendor negotiation strategy and risk mitigation
  • Identify key contract terms and conditions
  • Develop a plan to guide their organization through a vendor evaluation and selection process including:
    • RFP
    • Vendor evaluation criteria
    • Statement of Work
    • Conducting vendor evaluation
    • Selecting vendors
    • Negotiating and developing contracts

Day 3: Project Transition and Governance

The Project Transition and Ongoing Governance module addresses critical success factors, processes, procedure and methodologies required to successfully transition outsourcing projects from the client to the vendor.

  • The management of ongoing outsourcing relationships
  • Products, personnel, tools and systems
  • Transition plan requirements
  • Project reviews
  • Change management
  • Dispute resolution

Participants will learn to:

  • Define transition plan requirements to move from an in-house operation to an outsourcing vendor
  • Identify key processes and parameters to be implemented during the governance cycle
  • Define key requirement of the establishment and management of a Outsourcing Project Office
  • Describe how to establish and manage quality and productivity metrics and measures for an effective performance management plan
  • Define project and change management processes and requirements
  • Define and manage dispute resolution processes

Our seasoned outsourcing instructors have real world experience in designing, implementing and managing multimillion-dollar manufacturing, information technology and product and service outsourcing initiatives across the world, using best-of-breed outsourcing methodologies, processes and procedures.

Onsite Location Requirements

The customer must provide suitable meeting space, any desired meals or refreshments, and the following presentation supplies:

  • Four easels with paper and markers
  • A whiteboard and markers
  • Screen for computer projection

Pricing

The cost of the three-day workshop is $1,325 per person (minimum 10), and includes the course materials, instructor's services, shipping costs, and instructor travel expenses to locations within the USA, the Caribbean, and Central America.  

Seminar fees must be paid at least four weeks in advance to reserve a training date and instructor.

Additional travel surcharges will be charged for seminars scheduled within four weeks, or paid for within four weeks, of the onsite delivery date.

Cancellation Policy.  Onsite training seminars may be cancelled up to twenty-one days in advance of the scheduled date for a full refund less administrative fees of $4,000.  Registrants canceling within twenty-one days of the seminar will receive credit, less administrative fees of $4000, toward any other Resource Center seminars, public or private.

In the unlikely event that a seminar must be cancelled by seminar provider due to unavoidable circumstances, you will be notified at least two weeks prior to the seminar date, and your payment will be refunded.  Seminar provider is not responsible for losses due to cancellation including losses on advanced purchase airfares.  We strongly recommend that attendees traveling by air to attend the seminar purchase only refundable tickets.

Refunds.  If for any reason you are unsatisfied with the training, please notify the instructor at the end of the first day.  If you decide to cancel the remainder of the training program, all fees paid in excess of the published one-day training fee (plus any travel surcharges) will be refunded.  Seminar provider is not responsible for losses due to cancellation. In all circumstances, seminar provider's liability shall be limited to fees received.
