Overview
This hands-on Network+ training course is designed to enhance your networking
skills and knowledge while preparing for the CompTIA Network+ certification
exam. CompTIA's Network+ certification is the premier vendor-neutral networking
certification. This course consists of CompTIA Authorized Quality Curriculum
(CAQC) to ensure all test objectives are met by the training material used.
During the training an unofficail exam will be conducted to test and reinforce
participant's knowledge. Instructor led training will be followed by labs
using multi-vendor equipment from Cisco, Juniper, SMC and others to reinforce
essential networking skills gained during the course. In addition to preparing
participants for Network+ certification exam, this network training course
also complies with Department of Defense Directive 8570.1

Lab 1: Number Systems

Learn to use several software tools to convert numbers between the decimal,
binary, and hexadecimal number systems.
Lab 2: Easter-Egg Hunt

Carefully examine the lab equipment used in the classroom. Find and identify
a variety of common network building blocks like hubs, switches, routers,
MAUs, cabling, etc.
Lab 3: Build a Simple Network

Design and build a simple network for the classroom.
Lab 4: Student Workstation Configuration
Demo 1: Installing Classroom Gateway Router
Lab 5: Configure Workstation Default Gateway
Lab 6: Ping and ARP

Examine the ARP cache on your workstation. Ping others and observe the effect
on the ARP cache. Analyze the network traffic associated with a simple ping.
Lab 7: Installing a Switch
-
Reset the switch to the factory defaults. Using the console interface, perform
an initial switch configuration. Use the switch's web interface to configure
SNMP, port mirroring, and a VLAN. Examine the switching table and watch Spanning
Tree in operation.
Lab 8: Common TCP/IP Applications

Consider the use of common tools such as ftp, telnet, tftp, and ssh.
Lab 9: Voice over IP

Experiment with Voice over IP. Learn the key concepts and terminology of
this now common use of your network.
Lab 10: Installing a Router

Configure your Cisco router to connect your private subnet to the classroom
backbone network. Enable the RIP routing protocol.
Lab 11: Subnet Calculations

Perform a variety of exercises with IP addresses and masks. Identify address
classes. Learn to calculate the available addresses on subnets. Learn to
choose an appropriate subnet mask.

Use VNC to take remote control of your neighbor's workstation.
Lab 17: Convert Workstations to Wireless and DHCP

Remove your workstation from the wired network and make the needed configuration
changes.
Registration Fees
Both classroom training and virtual (online) training formats are available.
The per student registration fee for the classroom session is $3095, and
includes the seminar, course materials, and morning and afternoon refreshments.
The registration fee for virtual training session is $2595.
Classoom training begins at 8:30 AM each day and concludes at 4:30 PM unless
otherwise directed. Please arrive early on the first day to sign-in and meet
fellow attendees. If you register less than one week in advance of a class,
please bring your confirmation letter. Business casual attire is appropriate.
