The COP Master Class provides outsourcing professionals - whether they work as outsourcing service buyers, providers or advisors - with an intensive learning experience on a state-of-the-art, end-to-end process for outsourcing success. Attendees completing this outsourcing training course will be on a path toward their COP professional outsourcing certification. And, whether pursuing certification or not, all attendees will be able to improve outsourcing outcomes at their own organizations immediately.

Course Format

The Certified Outsourcing Professional Master Class employs class-room lecture, team discussion, and a capstone case study.  Experts (both current and relevant executive speakers from various industries and professional disciplines) join the class and share their insights honed from years of first-hand experience conceiving and leading outsourcing projects.

Geared for all three primary stakeholder groups - clients, providers and advisors - the COP Master Class integrates project management best practices with the Outsourcing Professional Body of Knowledge (OPBOK).

Participants use electronic outsourcing project planning templates to plan, document and track the in-class case study as well as to work on their own outsourcing project during the course. Instructors provide one-on-one and group coaching and feedback, ensuring candidates grasp the tools and techniques needed for successful outsourcing deployments.

Alternative Online Course Format

The online COP Master Class is a convenient way for busy executives to assess where their organization is positioned in governance and how it can move along the growth curve. Using multimedia techniques, this online course provides complete coverage of  all the topics covered in the instructor-led course.

The online COP Master class length is approximately 40 hours. Upon registration you will have 120 days to complete it.

These certifications are officially recognized by the RCCSP Professional Education Alliance and its members, including the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals.

Associate Certified Outsourcing Professional (aCOP)

The aCOP certification process consists of four requirements:

  • Attendance in the Certified Outsourcing Professional Training Master Class (above)
  • Submission of an online application, which includes a $400 non-refundable processing fee and access to the COP exam.
  • Achieving a passing score on the Certified Outsourcing Professional (COP) online certification exam
  • Execution (signature) of IAOP's Code of Ethical & Business Practice Standards for Outsourcing Professionals

Certified Outsourcing Professional (COP)

The COP certification process consists of four requirements:

  • Submission of an online application, which includes a $600 non-refundable processing fee and access to the COP exam.
  • Achieving a passing score on the Certified Outsourcing Professional (COP) online certification exam
  • Execution (signature) of IAOP's Code of Ethical & Business Practice Standards for Outsourcing Professionals
  • Earning 150 outsourcing knowledge and experience "points."

About the COP Certification Exam

The certification exam is comprised of 200 questions and candidates are given four hours to complete the exam. 70% or better is required to pass the exam.

About COP Knowledge and Experience Points

COP certification is based on a credit-earning system.  Candidates must earn 150 credits, or "points," to earn certification.

  • At least 50 points (up to the total requirement of 150 points) must be experience-based.
  • Up to 100 points can be knowledge-based.

Knowledge-based points may be earned for:

  • Post-graduate degree studies (up to 25 points)
  • Education in COP-qualified training programs (up to 25 points per program) listed in the Outsourcing Professional Course Catalogue (OPCC), or approved through the COP Bridge Program
  • Successfully passing the COP Examination following attendance in a COP Master Class (75 points)

Experienced-based points may be earned for outsourcing experience, such as:

  • Submission of documented professional outsourcing experience, 5 to 15 points per knowledge category.  There are 10 knowledge categories.

How to Earn 75 COP Certification Points for This Course

To earn 75 COP Certification points for attending the COP Master Class, candidates must complete the course and pass the COP Examination.

Certified Outsourcing Professional (COP) Recertification Requirements

Re-certification, based on continuing education credits, is required every two years.

Seminar agenda and assigned instructors are subject to change.

Payment is due prior to the seminar.

Public seminar cancellation policy.  Registrants may cancel up to fourteen days in advance of the seminar start date for a full refund, less administrative fees of $400.  Or, you may transfer your registration to another date or member of your company at no additional charge.  Please notify us as soon as possible. Registrants cancelling within fourteen days of the seminar will receive credit, less administrative fees of $400, toward any other Resource Center seminar.

On-site training scheduling and cancellation policy.  On-site training fees must be paid to reserve a training date.  Additional travel surcharges will be charged for travel to training locations outside of the continental USA and for training courses scheduled within three weeks, or paid for within three weeks, of the on-site delivery date.Organizations may cancel up to 21 days in advance of the seminar delivery date for a full refund, less administrative fees of 25% of the base fee.

If for any reason you are unsatisfied with the training, please notify the instructor by the end of the first day. If you decide to cancel the remainder of the training program, the instructor will collect all training materials.  Fees paid, less a prorata one-day on-site training base fee plus any travel surcharges, will be refunded.

Cancellation by provider. In the unlikely event that a seminar must be cancelled by seminar provider due to unavoidable circumstances, you will be notified at least two weeks prior to the seminar date, and your payment will be refunded.

Seminar provider is not responsible for losses due to cancellation including losses and penalties on advanced or non-refundable airfares.

In all circumstances, seminar provider's liability shall be limited to fees received.
